So if you had 5 skill points of Sprit magic, you had a 50% chance of success before you promoted to expert Elemental. After you promote to "expert" the chance drops to 20%. You need to skip right past "expert" and get to "Master" or keep a character at the "Novice" level for doing enchantments.
