Might and Magic 6 items 04/18/2015, 08:40:08
|
Chris M writes:
I decided to play MM6 again on Peter2's advice and it was quite a lot of fun. I have quite a lot of magic items and relics that I definitely did not get the last time I played MM6. I'd like to know if anyone wanted to discuss it, or even exchange save games!? I played using the default party and I did not cheat, but I used a walkthrough for the entire game. Some items I do not recall seeing before are rings, armor and shields that increase your level by 5. Amulets and rings that increase spell power for fire spells, or light spells. I even got a ring that increases spirit magic. Chris Mingles

Level 5 items are not common, but if I play the whole game and do full clears, I tend to find 2 of them. The Spirit ring is always found in full clears iirc.Probably is in the same spot, but I never paid that close of attention. I have played maybe 40 full clear games and many not full clears.

**Spoiler?** If you want to learn about all the available types of items/magics... 04/18/2015, 17:08:19

I recommend the attached link.Another thing to try is multi-looting. Make sure you have Master Identify Item or a Scholar. Save near a dead dragon that is in a safe position. Loot dragon, look at item. DON'T save. Reload, loot dragon. Just doing this multiple times will show you many of the available higher level items. Every now and then you'll get an item and the dragon won't disappear. You can keep item & gold by saving (if you want) and then reload. This is multi-looting. If you don't mind the time involved, you can get hundreds of items from one dead dragon, including A&Rs. There are 15 Relics and 15 Artifacts in game. Before you collect the 5 placed A's, you can collect 13 of the 30 A&Rs. Once 13 A&Rs have been brought permanently into game you can only add the 5 placed A's for a max of 18. You can have 2 each of the placed Artifacts. Whether you make a conscious effort to multi-loot in the game and to what extent is up to you.

Chandor writes:
Just as an addendum iirc, if you get any of the 5 placed artifacts/relics BEFORE you get the 13 random ones, they will count against the 13 random ones you are allowed to find. So to maximise your loot get those random ones first before getting the placed ones --Chandor

We used to call multi-looting "mephistoing", after the player who first publicised the feature. 04/21/2015, 01:40:03

I forgot it was called Mephistoing. Didn't know it was named after first reporter. 05/01/2015, 20:03:07

Based on this I probably shouldn't report that I'm playing a game with shops/guilds w/ unlimited shopping, open 24/7 and chests, goblins and mages that can have horseshoes.

If you go to the magic shop in Paradise Valley... 04/20/2015, 09:22:52

Xanax writes:
...save your game before you enter and then reload that game multiple times, you will eventually find a ring or amulet that enhances every type of magic. I don't remember if you can find those in other magic shops and I don't think you can find +5 level items in shops but I'm not sure about that. If I remember correctly, items of a specific magic stack with the effects from the 3 artifacts for each 'class' of magic (light and dark - body, mind and spirit - elemental) but do not stack with each other. i.e. two rings of fire magic will not have more effect than one. Someone else will know that for sure. The easiest way to see the effect of the increase is with the elemental artifact (Morgan) and a ring of water magic - then cast Lloyd's Beacon with and without various combinations of wearing one or the other or both and note the difference in number of days that it lasts.

I almost never go into the shop there. For some reason it's my least favorite zone in the game and I tend to go there only when necessary. I'll give it a try next time.

There are good reasons why very few people do shop in Eel-Infested Waters. 04/21/2015, 19:27:55

Peter2 writes:
Although there's a good magic shop there, the one in Paradise Valley is better. Also, there is no weapon shop, armoury, or general store, so there's little point in making a special trip there to sell the proceeds of looting after battle, and I don't remember any trainer there either. Reasons to use the shop might be to mend some magic item after it's been broken in combat in the local area, or for a zero-magic party to buy scrolls, and it would be worth a visit if the shop in Paradise Valley is either inaccessible or waiting to restock, but I can't off-hand think of any others.
