You know, I meant to ask if anyone knew whether Ubi had bought the rights to ALL the M&M games, or just the general game design and name. Yes, I absolutely agree, if someone owns the rights to the material, any copied discs would be pirated and therefore a bad thing.I don't believe piracy played that big a hand in the downfall of 3DO/M&M the RPG games, however; even at the time of M&M VII, everyone was saying how tired the graphics and game engine were - M&M was the only first-person view, 3D-generated world RPG still using 2D character sprites. Even though those sprites were made from 3D models, it was still basically the same technology as Doom I! And the gameplay did not show the generational, conceptual leaps and evolution forward that the console games were starting to, especially the Final Fantasy series. Piracy certainly didn't help, but neither did not buying into the Unreal (or any other 3D) game engine to upgrade their graphics....
