Gotta ask - any other good (more recent) CRPGs? 08/08/2010, 19:26:55

Anything been released in the last couple of years, or should I dream on?
The last ones I saw were MM9, Wiz8, that's about it.
Nothing I know of in the last 7-8 years.
I've never been into shooters, and those still seem to be the rage. Any ideas?

"Big Four" Wiz8 mods?1. Deathstalker's V3.0
2. Flamestryke's V1.1
3. Dodd the Slayer's V3.4 "The Rise of the Anciemts"
4. Qusari's V1.5 "Lunastralis" I assume you have already tried the M&M Mods curently available: 1. BDJ's MM6 "The Chaos Conspiricy"
2. BDJ's MM7 Rev4Rel2 As far as "new" CRPC games, I believe, sadly, that era is behind us since I know of none produced after 2002 other than possibly Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, Diablo II, Morrowind, and Obliviion. The aforementioned games should probably be classified as First Person Shooters, however.

KEWL - sound it out. It's not like ROTFL, it's just an alternate spelling, from the same group of slackers who thought it was kewl to play with their capitalization. :-)

MM7 mods? 08/25/2010, 00:18:32

I see the files for MM6 (TCC), but didn't see them for 7.
It looked like those were just directions for how to do a mod.
Am I missing something?Do the mods use the same maps\towns\dungeons, or are they different too?

I'm not aware of any, but among the older games, have you ever tried ... 08/09/2010, 05:09:49

... the Eye of the Beholder trilogy? The middle one of those (The Legend of Darkmoon) was the one game that gave me as much enjoyment initially as MM3. It's a much more linear game, though. IMO its only drawback is that there's not nearly as much randomness in it. The same goodies are always in the same places, so it doesn't have nearly as much replayability as the MM games. But having said that, it's still a cracking game. Also, if you play the first game, you can import your party into the second game with all its goodies, and then take that party into the third game. And the games are still enjoyable even with very strong parties.

I enjoyed the first 2 but not 3 so much. Not sure if 3 was by Westwood thinking about it. I agree that 2 was the bestI would like to see them re-released with an Auto map facility. I know some people like pen and paper but I'm not one of them.

The first two were designed by Westwood, but the third one wasn't - I can't remember who did it. The third was a lot weaker than than first two. I was glad to have played it just to complete the set, but like you, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the first two. I still have the maps for the games somewhere, I think - if you can call those numerous sheets of hasty scribbles "maps".
