Off-topic, but game related

Today's (Aug. 21, 2022) Wall Street Journal (of all things!) has an article about a new-ish indie game that is quite popular, especially among usually-non-gaming cat owners:"Stray." Have any of you ever played it? I ask, because I'm having technical difficulties which don't seem to ring any bells among the Steam community (and Steam of course, gives their standard "We can't offer technical support for other manufacturers' games" (which I suppose means any and all games, since in-house mods are the only games Steam ever had a hand in creating.)
I've tried the players' forum, but only got the "start a new game" advice. I've started game after game, and every one ends with my poor kitty stranded in an expanse of sky, no matter where I try to go. Thank you for your patience. "Meow?"

Can't say that such a game would be exactly up my alley... so no help from me, sadly.

I'm not loaded or played it myself, but if indeed your kitty is being stranded "in the sky" then it sounds like some of the visual objects aren't being rendered by your graphics system. Check the specs. Are your drivers, including DirectX, up to date?

Yes, I was sorry not to be able to play. We had a cat we got from the local S.P.C.A. (U. S. equivalent to Britain's R.S.P.C.A.) He was a hybrid Siamese-Angora, which gave the mischievousness and markings of a Siamese with the uh, inconvenience, of a long-hair. (After he died, we took a tour of Denmark, the area formerly known as Lapland, and Norway. I opened a sealed plastic bag with a brand-new shirt inside--to find cat hair inside! We had the cat for fourteen years, and have shed his hair in 29 countries and four continents.He was a real character. We already had a cat, a rescue runt of the litter born in our woodpile (when fireplaces were still legal to be used.) Piece of advice: never, NEVER adopt 1. a feral cat (they can rarely be fully tamed) or 2. the runt of the litter (they are fearful, having been picked on constantly, and wary of all people and other animals.) We had named her "Tribble." (I'm sure you all know where THAT came from!) She was fairly large, while Foxy (he looked like a small grey fox) remained about half her size. He didn't stay "Foxy" for long: Schwartzenegger (sp?) was "The Governator then, so Papa Elf started called the cat "Foximator." We both wept at his passing.

. . . the game probably doesn't work because we've had (both Papa Elf and I) our current computers since 2016, with Win10 going back to 2011, I believe. We plan an updating when the pandemic is over. (Our version of Win10 is slightly older and different from what's standard today.) We've had our current 'puters so long that Sister elf has given up on "inheriting" one or the other, and bought her own.
