Unbeatable games

Just read an article about unintentionally unbeatable computer games. (Most were back in Basic days, but some came a little later.) It got me to thinking about the old Might & Magic 3. Peter2, I know you're familiar with this one: There was one particular tile that when your character stepped on it, would cause the game to either crash or lock up, I can't remember which. It occurred fairly early in the game, IIRC. At any rate, unless you rebooted, the game would be unbeatable under those conditions.

    Nit-picky Elf

So if you have the original MM3 game there are 2 (I think) locations in a small lake, north-ish of the Tomb of Terror, that used to instantly crash the game and lock the computer so that the only way out was the "three-fingered salute" – the CTRL-ALT-DEL reboot command. Worse than that, it used to leave lost clusters on the hard drive that you eventually had to go in and remove using pretty basic DOS commands (which I have long forgotten). However, if you have the updated game from the later compilations – mine is from the "Might & Magic Classics" issued with MM6 – that fault was mended.
