I'm happily back playing MM7. Now, I need to have a memory refresher about one of the quests. What is it I need to do in order get the quest to go retrieve the trumpet? I know what to do after I get it...but 3 tries just gets me the quest to choose the new arbitrator after Judge Grey dies. Anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks!

I haven't played MM7 for a few years, but I've got the Prima Guide. The trumpet quest is triggered by the Human-Elf war. To quote (and may the copyright gods forgive me):
"If you enter the Tularean Forest two to three months after the war clock starts, a messenger approaches to say a battle is raging between the Elves and Humans. They fight over an artifact--Gryphonheart's Trumpet. During the battle, the artifact lies in a chest. . ." The text goes on tho say where the chest may be found. It doesn't say how to get the quest if you enter the forest before two or three months.

. . . Tularean Forest. A messenger should find you and give you a scroll, asking you to do something, and you need to do it immediately.

If you need to know precisely what to do, Select the hidden test between the highlights.

    Highlihts on
Go to the battlefield in front of the Tularean Caves and search it.
    Highlihts off

Stupid pre-quests

Apparently, there were 2 quests (one for each side) that needed to be completed before the quest for the trumpet could be triggered. That was the part I was missing...how to trigger the quest for the trumpet. I knew all the rest of it. Thanks.

After I don't know how many restarts, I got the prequels done correctly, and on time, in order to get the stupid trumpet, and get it turned in to Arbiter Grey before his "untimely" demise.

I just wish I still had the finger speed to play all the games I used to play, and said that I would play once I retired. For example, I would love to play the first two Eye of the Beholder games again, but I had a go at the Legend of Darkmoon a few months ago, and I just can't do it any more. But I still have the MM games, where I can go turn-based when things get tricky.
