Multi-looting : Limit of good items you can get in one region?

I went to Dragon Sand, killed a few monsters and started multi looting. Here are 2 observations:
    1. Dragons yield the best items. Much better than other monsters.
    2. After you got a few good items, the good items kind of dried up. I started getting a lot of items that worth only a few hundred golds even from a gold dragon. I wonder if there is any limit on how many A/R you can get in a region. Specifically, do I need to go to another region like Hermit Island before I can get more good items?

1) That's right, and 2) I don't think so

    1) The coloured dragons, the Great Wyrm, and the Supreme Titan are level 6 monsters who give treasure every time, and it is only from them that you can rely on getting the the top-class loot. You can get level 6 (L6) treasure from other monsters, but it's usually limited in either type, frequency, or both — for example, the Maddening Eye can give you L6 treasure, but it only hands out rings, and it only has the chance to do so 30% of the time, so that even when it does give a ring, there's no certainty it will be an L6. The Cuisinart behaves similarly with its plate armour. The top class genie, the Efreet can give you an L6 treasure 30% of the time, but in my experience seldom does. And that's pretty well it.

    2) In my experience, the treasure you get from a monster is absolutely random within a) the pre-set limits for that monster and b) the ability of the game's subroutines to produce absolutely random numbers. Over the years I've been playing this game and reading about other players' experiences, I've seen all sorts of theories, especially about the "Enchant Item" spell. You know: "You get best results 'in a morning' or 'on one-day' or 'during the last week of the month'" and so on. None of them have held up when they were statistically analysed using a large enough sample to make the analysis reasonably valid.

There were all sorts of stories about the game, hidden dungeons wonderful weapons, and all that. They don't exist — trust me! Reading through the games files with a hex editor, I did find one weapon that I'd never seen in the game (I can't remember now what it was other than it was a sword of some sort), but when I resurrected it, it was a huge disappointment when it turned out to be only a +2 weapon. Apparently it had been used in developing the game, and the data on it had not been removed from the resource files when the game was finally marketed.

The Enchant Item theories somewhat remind me of Warlords III ...

I have a better theory: you get best results when you save before enchanting and when you don't like what you've got, you reload

*Grin* Yeah, we used to call it "Grey Magic"

Save often, and if you don't like the result, reload. I remember playing "Crusaders of the Dark Savant", and learning the hard way that in the early stages of the game, you saved your position every time you went through a door — every time without exception. I don't think my hard drive got much peace in that game.

I'm a great believer in multilooting and aggressive reloading. I don't know if you ever played Might & Magic 3, but I'll never forget the time I was processing on of the hoards in the Dragon Caves and up popped an Acidic Obsidian Longsword. It was the best weapon I ever got in that game.

Well, I tried to play it

As for the Wiz 7, I tried that as well, but the game has somehow completely missed me. I didn't figure out how to start. I could either walk through a small dungeon and kill bugs, or go out in one direction (and read "You feel dizzy ... and when you wake up, you find yourself (back in the horrible boring dungeon)"), or go in another direction, where very powerful ratman warriors kill your party in a single round ...

You played it on hard drive?!! Oh yeah, now I remember--it was re-issued on CD. As I recall, the first time around, it was still on a stack of floppies (change disk to enter dungeon; change disk to load party; etc.) I wonder whatever became of Dave Bradley after the ill-fated "Wizards and Warriors"? At once time I considered him to be only slightly less great than our own Jon van Canegham and Origin's Richard Garriot. I would include the Elder Scrolls team, but since they were very much out of the spotlight, I don't know who they are/were.

A sidelight on the above-mentioned "Wizards & Warriors": not being a follower of pro basketball, imagine my chagrin when I Googled "game: Wizards & Warriors," and got umpteen jillion basketball game stats, and finally, at the end, one tiny little entry for the RPG!

Fortunately, we have dosbox these days. That way I can play the nice old games like Master of Orion or MM 3.

Yes, but my experiments with the game came to an end when I changed my computer.

It was a lot faster than the previous one, and all attempts to run either that game or Bane of the Cosmic Forge came to a total halt with an instant response of "Division by zero error" as soon as I tried to run them. I never did get them to run again, and I'm pretty sure that I no longer even have them. At least, they weren't in evidence when we moved house a couple of years ago. Heaven only knows what happened to them.

I've never seen any evidence of it.

TTBOMK, luck mainly affects the chance that a character will take damage from a failed attempt to disarm a trap. It may also affect the amount of damage taken when a character is hit in combat, but I'm less sure of that, and I may be wrong there.

If luck only affect the damage I get from a failed disarming of trap...
