Question on the 5 day game.

No, I'm not doing one. After my kill everything / do every quest game, I decided to do the opposite, where I use every possible advantage, skip anything that takes much time and try to stick to the easy and necessary quests.

But, I was searching these boards about some other stuff and came across posts about the 5 day game. I couldn't possibly imagine doing that, but my question is: How do you complete the game without the ritual of the void? And I thought you couldn't get that until April after you retrieved Nicolai from a Circus?

I still don't understand how the 1 day travel thing works, but I'll take everybody's word for that.

I don't believe you have to talk to Nicolai about the circus.

I think Ribannah still has details about her MM6 speed run up on her site at Castle Gobs

I read through that whole thing step by step. Still some things I don't quite get (you can get to Ironfist in zero time?), but most of it makes sense.

I was going to finish this in mid-April and was feeling proud of myself. I think I'll just slink away quietly.

A new mind at the problem always has the chance of finding something new. It was years after the game was issued before a comparative newbie found out that if you captured the Prince of Thieves and had to Rest before getting him back to Anthony Stone, he escaped and went to ground in the Thieves Guild. And she got pats on the back from all of us for her discovery.

No matter what happens, nobody here is going to laugh at you! That really is not the way we treat people.

Oh no, I didn't mean it that way.

I was just amazed at the accomplishment of the 5 day game. I wonder how much time (real life time) it took to accomplish that. I just meant that I wasn't so inclined to brag about my 4 month game after that.

I'm having some thoughts of trying the January game, though I'm not sticking to their rules. I will freely use the NWC Dungeon for stats (and gold if I need it). I've been experimenting with my current party. With lots of saving and retries and the judicious use of lloyd's beacons, I can see a relatively low level party doing Kriegspire (not that hard), Supreme Temple (actually pretty easy, I think), Alamos and even Darkmoor - and never have to kill anything in any of those dungeons.

But then there's Varn. Wow that looks hard. Especially dealing with the central room. I've tried running through it and it's doable, but that's with a level 48 party and it's still a close thing. Somehow you'd have to stop and set a beacon in there, lure all the monsters out and then portal back in. Either that or try to kill those things one at a time. Would love to know how somebody dealt with that. Anybody know?

I was amazed and inspired from 5 day game some years ago. I tried and done it in 12 days. It was hard, took me like 60-70 real hours to accomplish, not including the heavy planning stage which took at least 2 weeks. Tons of saving&loading, running, dodging, gate master seeking.. I have completed the game countless of times before that including 1 lvl, real time speedplay, solo, KKKK, SSSS and knew every little thing about the original game. That is why i think planning stage is way more fun than actually playing it. In my post game review i figure that it can be done in 8 days or so but I didn't had the heart to try again. So i guess it is totally doable. good luck!

I've never had the Prince of Thieves escape when resting when I'm trying to recreate the scenario. Is there any particular trick to it?
