MM6 audio deteriorated

Game installed and running fine (same disks I bought in '98) but the audio is missing/choppy in places, probably due disk being banged up. Is all the audio stored and played from the disk or is it local on the installed drive. Just can't be played without audio.

There's info on these forums that will answer that for you. I think that it's played off the CD, but it can also be played from MP3s if they are in the correct folder. That said....

The choppiness is probably caused by the old Smacker tools the game installs. Mok's patches contain the latest version, and those might help. Search for a link on the MM6-8 forums.

...with it. Was able to extract the audio from the CD and have it play locally but the audio was still choppy (probably choppy at the source, didn't play through any program I had, being a musician I have many). Might just get a copy from GoG, been meaning to play Xeen anyway as well and I only have the non-voices version on floppy. There was just something very appealing about playing from the original disks from when it was released.

You can replace the audio files in the folder with something that plays ok (including from another M&M game). I am pretty sure I did that a couple of times with older games.

I don't remember if you had to adjust something in a config/ini file, to tell the game where to look.
