This sounds like a problem with perception

You had such a bad experience with the blasters that your mind is inventing reasons to hate other characteristics of the game that you had no trouble with before.

Suppose you decide you will never use bows in the game either. Then your mind is liable to decide that GM dagger makes the game too easy and unenjoyable, because it hits fast multiple times, sort of like arrows, sort of like blasters ... And you can keep up this chain of logic until you are finally without any weapon at all, and then you still have unarmed, which by that time you will be able to tie onto the "logic" chain. So you will conclude that you hate M&M7 because it doesn't contain any challenge at all. And then you could even take this dislike to any of the other M&M games that you previously enjoyed, all because you just didn't like blasters when you got to them in M&M7.

In short, you are letting the existence of blasters in M&M7 control you.

Tell yourself you enjoyed the game just fine until you got to the blasters, so there is no reason to rationalize why you shouldn't use X or Y weapon just because you didn't care for weapon Z. Simply don't use Z, tell your rationalization to take a hike, and carry on with the game.

Side note: There are monsters in the game with a ranged attack too.
