The quirky, almost subterranean, humour comes out in all sorts of places. There's a lot of it in the late dungeons in World of Xeen. For example, there was a long enciphered message about MM6 in the Dragon Tower. These might have been the intentions at the time MM5 was written, but they sure didn't work out that way! Also, try reading the posters and scrolls that are left all over the place in MM9. You'll learn all about the soldier forced to room with a comrade with B.O., the wife who has run off with her lover, and whole variety of different things. You'll even find a monk called Salieri - presumably in the monastery as a penance for killing Mozart!
