Possession of the flute (it only needs to be in a character's backpack - you may have to select him/her when you try and enter, I can't remember the details) gives you access to the NWC dungeon in the Plane between Planes. IIRC, look for an enormous sword-hilt buried in the ground. But there's nothing worth having in there.

The Plane of Fire is a network of raised paths above a sea of lava, and some of the paths are above maximum flying height, so if you fall off, you have to fly right back to the lower bits. I presume there's a set of stairs (or the equivalent) somewhere for parties who don't have the Fly spell, but I've never looked for them so I can't tell you where they are. You might also find the Castle of Fire interesting. It contains what I found to be one of the game's harder puzzles.

From the room where you enter, follow the raised path as it winds along upwards through the room shaped like a figure 8, until you enter an octagonal room. Just inside the entrance of this room, you will see a tall pillar with its top near the path you're on. Save your game here in case you fall. Then jump on to the top of this pillar, and it will sink to ground level. Then go back to the entrance room.

I don't know if you use the Quicksave option, but I don't. I found it was more likely to corrupt the savegame.

All you need to do is identify the savegame files and save them to a memory stick or something. The file are named save000.mm6, save001.mm6, save002.mm6 and so on.Then copy them back on to your computer when you've cleaned it up.
