Great Druid and Arch Druid (Spoiler)

    Do you have to complete the quest of the Circle of Stone ( for Great Druid) BEFORE you complete the quest for the Altar of the Moon (for Arch Druid)? In other words, can I seek for the promotion to Great Druid after I had been promoted to Arch Druid.

    I had once completed the Altar of the Moon quest before I went to the Circle of the Stone and then the Circle of the Stone quest did not work anymore.

You must do the quests in the right order

Wrong order? (spoiler)

I assume that the game detected that I had already been promoted to Arch Druid and did not need the promotion for Great Druid any more.

    I had started a new game recently and I can test both approaches and report back.

Result of checking the promotional path of Great Druid and Arch Druid

    2. The quest for the promotion to the Great Druid can only be completed on the 4 special midnights.

    3. However, if a character completed the quest for Arch Druid BEFORE he is promoted to Great Druid, he will become Honorary Arch Druid even if the character is actually a Druid.

    In other words, if you can handle the monsters, you can be promoted to Arch Druid at really early stage of the game.

The only practical penalty, I suppose, is that if you do that, your characters won't get the benefit of the first promotion, and if you're running a druid, I suspect that will be significant. The boost of 1 hit point and one spell point per level that the first promo gives is quite valuable at that stage of a druid's development. And of course the whole party will miss out on the XP bonus.

Effect of Druid promtions

    I had checked the effect of Druid promotions on my ADDA party. There is no change in their hit points and spell points. The only change is in experience point. Changing from Druid to Arch Druid yield 100,000 exp points but changing from Warrior Mage to Honorary Arch Druid only yield 40,000 exp points. However, for both the Arch Druid and the Honorary Arch Druid, getting the Great Druid promotion (after they get the Arch Druid promotion) will yield only 15193 exp points.

    In other words, taking the promotion in the wrong order will probably reduces the potential exp points that the druid should be able to get from his Great Druid promotion.
