Devils outpost, dark master, and more questions

    Hello everybody.

I have played MM6 before but never finished the game. Now I' playing it again after a long time. I remembered this tavern from the time I played MM7. Hope you can help me

My party of KKCS is doing the council quests now and the hardest one seems to be Given by Sir Osric Temper: destroying the devils outpost. The problem with this is: I didn't pay much attention when he said where it is... Now can't find it... (A bit embarrassing)

Another thing is Dark Magic. My Wizzard has a reasonably high skill in it (11 IIRC) and an amulet of dark magic (Oh the joy, when we found it in a chest belonging to some bandits!). I have visited the desert inhabited with titans and found where the master resides. However he mentioned something about only teaching those who have a name being pure evil(or something like that). How do I make him tech me?

    And the final question:
What skills should I develop for my knights? One has Disarm trap master 14, another is a Master merchant 13. The weapon/armor skill descriptions don't sound to to be worth investing the precious skill points (from my uneducated perspective), but please correct me if I*'m wrong

    Awaiting your advice.

    Gedas the Evil

    1. The Devil's Outpost is in Kriegspire, just north of the extinct volcano. Your party will probably be attacked on its way by assorted earth elementals and minotaurs, so you may want to rest up and heal before taking on the devils. If anything gets broken you can get it mended in the village, but try not to lose any of your characters, because there's no Temple. (There's the curator in Castle Kriegspire, but believe me, you don't want to go in there yet. Besides, it's expensive.)

    2. Before you can become a master in Dark Magic, your party has to have a notorious reputation. There are various ways of getting there, including selling human bones (check out the houses in Rockham, the village west of Free Haven - find bones with the cannibals in Bootleg Bay and in Wromthrax's cave in Mire of the Damned), and taking advantage of the Face in the Superior Temple of Baa. Killing peasants also works, but I treat that as a last resort.

A warning before you do this: it's a lot easier to get a notorious reputation than an angelic one, so it you want to achieve mastery in Light Magic, do that first. Once the quests that boost your rep are done, you can't get any more.

    3. Skills for your knights: Repair is always handy; as you get on in the game, you'll find more and more opponents who can break things, and it's a pest having to go to town and quite possibly wait for the shop to open. Also, one of your characters will need at least expert in Perception in order to open the doors in the Superior Temple of Baa - and there's one door you won't be able to open even then.

You best weapon combo for one knight is the spear Poseidon in the right hand, and the sword Hades in the left. Be careful, though, to carry Hades safely, you need an item of Regeneration, otherwise it drains the character using it.

Hope this helps - get back to us if you need more help.

A couple more things: You don't actually need to kill everything in the devil's outpost. Just one particular mob (Devil of something? I think), who will drop a scroll. Then just grab the scroll, exit the outpost and bring it back to Temper.

In terms of getting notorious reputation - the previous advice is correct; it's almost essential that you get master of light first. Beyond that, if you don't want to kill peasants (which I don't) the steps I typically take after getting master of light are as follows (it helps to do these in this order):

Donate heavily at a temple of baa - that should get your reputation down to something in the bad range. Then start talking to peasants and threaten or beg those who won't talk to you. That will gradually get it down a couple more levels. Then turn in the bones from Wormthrax cave and Bootleg bay (turn in is in Free Haven). Then hire a couple of people who will lower your reputation. That should get you there fairly quickly and no peasants are harmed.

Once you've gotten your master in dark magic, dismiss the bad guys you hired and donate a bunch at a regular temple and that will take you back up to indifferent.

    Hope that helps.

I thought those tombs were in Castle Darkmoor. Are there some more in Kriegspire that drop your rep? I must confess I hadn't noticed them.
