Verhoffin Ruins & anywhere else at level 1 09/09/2009, 02:15:32 |
Actually there are multiple targets you can easily kill without a scratch in Verhoffin and many other places. In Verhoffin, if you activate the 3 skeletons by the entrance and then run over to the "safe" chest just down the starting hallway & around the right corner, jump into the water & run up the ramp. If you walk too far forward & activate the 2 skeletons in front of you... that's fine, you're not scared of 4 skeleton warriors & a master skeleton (at level 1). Instead after you exit the water ramp, turn left & then go immediately through the doors on the left. You walk through the doors to the edge of the room & wait til you see the skelies coming, then run directly at the river & jump across to the "safe chest" area. You should hit the ledge on the river side & then jump over the broken column on a 2nd jump. Now all 5 skeletons will be in the river & you're on the ledge. Simply walk over to the edge & have 50% of your screen overlooking the water & you can melee them, they won't attack you at all. Or you can sit on top of the broken column & use ranged attacks, but it takes longer i've found. Although much less safe, you can also kill all of the zombies in Verhoffin in this manner, you hide by crouching behind the broken column until the zombies are in the river, then quickly run out over the edge & melee the zombies with your group. If you back up immediately after meleeing, the zombies should try to cast "wound" on you, but it will hit harmlessly against the ledge. Using this to clear out the skeletons/zombies, and then applying your method against the fright/terrors with the jail cells you cleared out the skeletons from, you might be able to completely clear Verhoffin ruins at level 1... That would be a pretty funny scenario... LOL! As it is, I always start out by killing the 5 skeletons in this manner, it gives you an excellent jump start on experience that just continues to pay dividends all game long. Oh... I almost forgot, you can also use the "high ground" method in many areas. You can clear the "training hall" at level 5 or so, by luring all the enemies to the water area with the chains hanging down. As you enter there's one chain that hangs down into the water on the right. You climb this chain and wait for everyone to enter the room, then climb down slowly until you are in melee range, but the lizards do not attack you. (The undead creatures will cast wound, but with 5 people meleeing and all he can do is "wound" he doesn't last long either). Lindisfarne can be cleared without a scratch by climbing the ladders in the chapel area & then climbing down until you are in melee range of the horde below, if you get the range right you can whale on them, but they just run around and scream "come on!". Of course in any of the cases above you could not worry about the range & just use your bow... but it's usually better to melee if you're extremely underleveled. Many of the Yeti's in Yanmir's fortress can be lured over to "bunk beds" if you get the distance right, they'll throw rocks that hit the edge of the bed & you're meleeing them in the face. These are all extremely lame & you'll feel like a total douche for using them though... I just found them extremely hilarious the few times I found something like this. Another humiliating kill i'm ashamed to admit is the Male Sea Monster, at the very beginning of Isle of Ashes. If you have 4 characters with bows, you can walk into the water. About waist deep the MSM will come charging you, if you find a sweet spot, you can take 1 step back & he'll start swimming away & then take 1 step forward & he'll charge you. If you keep up this extremely dull & boring fight the entire first day until about 6pm that night, he will eventually die. Also once he starts making choking sounds, he's almost dead, so you back up until he swims away & the gem turns green you can quick save & then reload & kill him for virtually any treasure drop you like, he is capable of dropping Verhoffin's Dark Plate, though if you have the patience to wait for that, God bless your horrible soul. |
