I ran a druid in the first MM7 game I played, purely to get the ability to make black potions. Looking back after the game, I reckoned that potion-making was all I used him for. For other uses, his lack of the mirrored path magics in that game made him a liability in a Light Path party. When I play the game these days (which isn't often) I'd far rather have an archer - he has limited access to Light or Dark Magic, and most of the time he can open chests without getting the party blown up. When I have time, I'll try BDJ's mod.In MM6, one of the regulars years ago, GP or Greate Pierre the Worse, had a favourite party of DCSS. I agree that the druid in MM6 does better than in MM7, but his class needs an awful lot of skill points to become maxed out. All things considered, I'd still rather have an archer instead. Think back - how often do you really need the druid's cleric abilities?
And of course, there's no druid class in MM8.
