I've noticed that there are a TON of quests that have little or no combat with large experience and/or gold rewards. I'm playing the game to take advantage of this. I basically played the Isle of Ashes and the Beet Hoven straight. This gets me to level 5. After that I just do all the freebie quests. These include Nicolai, Love Letter, lower drawbridge, etc. After doing these non-combat quests, I've reached level 13 and got bored of not fighting. Now I'm wiping out the imps and going to release the general next. I could have done 5 or 6 more quests that had very little combat but I wanted some action. I've raised each character through their first promotion, so I have a merc, a crusader, a scholar, and a healer. I'm aiming for Assassin, Mage, Priest, Paladin for this play through. If I'm still having fun I may play a full Priest party for my next game.
