MM9 troubleshoot 06/02/2005, 06:07:13 |
Well folks, it looks that I am experiencing another WinXP problems. Since the time I bought my new computer last December, I hadn't installed MM9 on it. Well, I did it yesterday, and this is what I received on a blue screen: -------------------------------------------------------------- "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen (note: it isn't), restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps. Check to be sure you have adequate disk space (I have). Of a driver is identified in the stop message (no drivers are identified), disable the driver ot check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Chech with your hardware for any BIOS updates (how can I do that?). Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing (how can I do that?). If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. Technical information: xxx STOP. 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x8280922E, 0xF680E918, 0x00000000) Beginning dump of physical memory
-------------------------------------------------------------- I've found a solution on Celestial Heavens - how make the M&M games to run on WinXP. It says that there is a way to get MM1-MM8 to run on WinXP but MM9 should run without any problems right after installing. Btw, I have another problems running MM8, where after the launch I get a white blank screen and after few seconds I am kicked back to desktop. For MM8 those hints might work but what about MM9? I had exactly the same problems when I was trying to start HoMM4 "The Gathering Storm". Both games did work on my older computer so the CD can't be damaged or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. My computer stats: Windows XP Professional
