    I'm guessing that you're running WinXP or maybe Win2K. Are you running a firewall in the background? Unless you disabled it you are probably running Windows Firewall without knowing it. Even if you did disable it, it has a nasty habit of getting switched back on.

    Anyway, firewalls are on the list of suspected causes for the 1.2 problem. If you want to do some experimenting, try applying the 1.2 patch to a 1.0 installation when you in Safe Mode. That seems to work pretty well in these cases.
