Some statistics from level 42: Lich 10M meditation goes from 550 SP to 820 SP with that staff. Warlock 13GM meditation goes from 694 SP to 1069 SP. That's 18 and 25 extra SP for each skill level. According to the manual they should have 267 and 220 SP at that level, not counting the extra SP they get for intelligence and personality, I'm not sure how to calculate those. Do you have any numbers for archmages without meditation that we can compare? (I don't have to ask about druids .) I don't care if Ethrics staff is any good in melee, I would use it even if it made the lich clumsier and it would be better for her to fight empty handed. And it takes some time for a party to get fully developed.
