I think I see your problem, are you trying to edit the game while you have MM7 running? If so, that's where your problem lies. You cannot edit a game in progress, only a savegame. If you edit the savegame while you are playing it the changes will only affect the save not the game in progress. Then when you save and close the game you overwrite the changes you made with the editor.
