Original Message:   The guinea, as a single coin, was not in use in the 20th century in the UK
Certainly I never saw one. It was, however, in fairly common use as a quantity of money, especially for higher-class items such as expensive jewellery, furs, etc. where the price tag would be e.g. "75 gns". A price of 1 guinea would usually be give as "21/-". It stopped being used when coinage was decimalised in the 1970's.

Wiki says that it dominated UK coinage in the 18th century.
