Original Message:   Whew! It's good to be home
I've been out of the hospital for a week now, and am I glad! The week before, I sat down to Sunday breakfast: a French omelet (Sunday's breakfast treat) I'd made, with Havarti Cheese, avocado, and mushrooms. The next thing I knew, several burly men were carrying me in a litter out the front door to a waiting ambulance. (Papa and Baby Elf later explained that I'd passed out before eating a bite, but that Papa had caught me before I hit the floor. They kept me for four days. Why had I passed out? From lack of salt, of all things! After being lectured on consuming too much sodium for years, now they're feeding it to me. I'd had recent dental surgery, and was lacking any molars and opposing grinding teeth, so that I've essentially been on a liquid/soft food diet since the last week of February. I'd counted on getting my new bridgework for my birthday, but no such luck. Oh well. When I do get them (scheduled for next week,) we're going for lunch at the best pizzeria in town, with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to wash it down--worth waiting for! (Incidentally, I'm now 87. Wow that's old!) I'd have notified you all sooner, but somehow my entire computer contents were corrupted by the gremlins that do such things. I couldn't persuade any of the gatekeepers of my URL that I was who I said I was. It was a long, (two-day) process, but everything is (mostly) restored. The bruises from not-very-skillful "lab vampires" (hospital blood-takers) are mostly gone, and all the puncture wounds from them have mostly healed. Love to you all, Elf
