If you get your party with its mirrored path magic casters tooled up with Guinevere and a Ring of Dark Magic each (you might have to transfer the Guineveres between the members of the party), and raise their skills in Dark Magic to 24, you will find Shrapmetal unbelievably effective if you use it properly. The way to do this is to get right close in – contact range – before you cast the spell. Doing that, I once succeeded in taking down a completely undamaged gold dragon with only three casts of the spell. There it was, a motionless black lump, all ready to be multilooted *evil grin*
