As far as I can work out, xp works as follows
The XP value of all the monsters in the combat that you killed is totalled.
THis is then multiplied by any NPC bonuses
THe XP is then divided amongst all the characters living at the end of the combat
Each character receives this share of XP multiplied by their learning skill bonus (1.09 + 0.01 * effective learning skill rank) where effective learning skill rank is learning skill at normal learning, 2x learning skill at expert learning and 3x learning skill at master learning
