I finished the game proper, and then tried to tackle the bosses at the end. It seriously was not much fun. No matter how you played, your party ended up at least very badly crippled after each one. I got so fed up I abandoned it for a time. However, when I restarted it, it was after I upgraded my computer. I reinstalled the game and restored my savegames, but as soon as I started the game, it crashed with a "Division by zero" error, so that was that. Pity.
