Original Message:   'Way off topic, plus some venting on MMX
Has anyone here played Shadowrun/Dragonfall Director's Cut? It's on sale on Steam this weekend for $3 USD, so I'm thinking of getting it. In a more on-topical note, I've about given up on MMX. It was fun up until the Tomb of 1000 Terrors, but now it's just not that much fun anymore. Constant battle against relentless foes, die, reboot, repeat until you don't die, then on to the next battle against relentless foes--lather, rinse, repeat. The worst IMHO is the hordes of monsters triggered by Bosses. In just about every RPG I've ever played, you expect to wade through the hordes first, regroup/heal/restore spells, etc., then tackle the Big Guy. But not MMX. Once you finally kill a Boss, dozens of semi-bosses come out of the woodwork, and you can neither save your game, go someplace to replenish supplies, nor heal/restore/etc. before facing them. I don't know how many times I've killed a Boss, only to die in the aftermath--and this is on easy level! The level system is also flawed, I think. In any other game I've played, playing at a more difficult level meant the risks were greater, but so were the rewards. In MMX the game even warns you that playing a tougher game means LESS gold and magic items. This is an incentive for anybody other than 15-year-olds taking time off from their pk hobby to brag about their death matches?? Life is too short for this. I got my money's worth from the early game, and don't feel compelled to force myself to finish just for the sake of finishing. What's the point?
