You'll find various characters throughout Jadame who may eventually agree to join your party. Some of them may be willing to join right away. Others will ask you to complete a specific task.
Still others are waiting until you've proven yourself by reaching one of three particular points in the overall storyline. Without giving anything away, we can tell you that you can probably hire some new characters if you've just been shown a short video.
