I have finally managed to get the game instaled again on my XP OS. If you read my previous post, it regarded an I/O error code 57. It was also a file connected with active x, part of the direct x system. Anyhow, I got around the problem following an e-mail from a colleague overseas who had the same problem. Basically, when your PC is restored, some of the compatability settings on installed software will change automaticaly. Apparantly, this is a glitch in xp and running older games. To cut a long story short, the preload command in the instalation disk had a different setting to the compatability of the remainder of the disk. This caused a conflict with active x which in turn could not run the installation menu. Let us clear one thing now. Because I have a problem with my xp does not mean that everyone has the same problem. All PC's are built differently and some of us have trouble free times with software.I hope that this wil be of some assistance to anybody who might have the same problem in the future. To recap, ensure that the compatability settings are the same throught the installlation disk. Thanks to Klara for responding so prompt and thanks to Hang for his remedy.
