I have found the answer to the XP problem 02/16/2003, 13:47:09 |
I am about to become the most popular person in the world when I tel you that I have finaly cracked a way of getting MM7 to work on the xp operating system. I have tried everything for weeks, from compatibility settings and trying it from DOS. Nothing wirked and I was getting seriously pissed off. The problem I was getting was that the game would load at the "3DO" stage and then go completely blank. A message would then arise stating" DDERR - Unsupported at line " etc. Now, prior to all this, When you insert disk 1, xp users will be told that you do not have directx 6 instaled when in fact you do. IGNORE THIS MESSAGE AND CARRY ON INSTALlING. It does not affect the installation. Its just the 3do software being outdated and unable to read xp settings. So logically, there had to be a simple answer to all this. The problem had to be a minor one otherwise the 3d0 thing at the start would not boot. It took me four weeks to work this problem out and I finaly cracked it. The problem lies in your regisrty. Now, please dont have panic attacks and think" shit , I've got to dive in my registry." It's dead easy to fix. Just follow these instructions if you have the DDERR-Unsupported message. First of all, ensure that the game is run on compatibility mode windows 98/2000. Click on the "Start" button.
I wont get technical other than say that this value you are changing is like changing the wheels of a car from square to circular. In other words, things Will run smoother.
