If you want a "killing machine" party, I would recommend archer, cleric, and two sorcerers, and take the Dark Path. All four have access to Dark, and 3 have access to Elemental. Although the Archer only only has access to Dark at basic level, the fact he can Disarm is an enormous help. You'll need to find a half-way decent item of Disarming to boost his ability, though.
Having chests blow up does fell damage to you at low levels, and if they're in dungeons, you seldom have line of sight far enough away to open them with Telekinesis, without suffering damage.
