. . . Robert the Wise is VERY difficult to kill without GM Resistance to Magic but I seem to remember that when I tackled him, I was at least level 70, and maybe even nearer 90. I suspect your party simply needs more experience, so that you can pump more skill points into your core skills. As for how to tackle him, he is immune to Light, Dark, and Mind magic (and 60% resistant to everything else), so he's unlikely to paralyze unless the paralysis from weapons is different from that of the spell. One thing does occur to me – have you tried donating at all the temples to see what spells they cast on you? One of them might give a high-level Day of Resistance. I don't know if it will be enough, but it's worth a shot.
