    (2) Spirit Magic at Master level (Cleric or Druid). The most useful spell here is Preservation, which prevents your party members from dying. While Preservation is active, your guys can lose any number of HP and become at most unconscious. Unconscious characters regenerate HPs (having Regenerate spell active or a magical item equipped) so that they can "awake" when they have regenerated enough HPs. Also, unconscious characters can be healed by ordinary healing tools.
    Get Spirit Magic at Expert level ASAP, you'll be able to cast Heorism and Blessing - both these spells improve your fighting abilities considerably.

    (3) Mind Magic at Master Level (Cleric or Druid) - because of Cure Insanity.

    (4) All Elemental Magic at Master level (Archer, Druid or Mage). Most of extremely useful elemental magic spells need the Master level.

    (5) Light or Dark Magic at GM level (Cleric or Mage). The GM level is what is giving the real power to these schools.

    As far as weapons and armor is concerned, teach all your guys bows. Even to the biggest diletants, which can learn Bows only at the base level. Teach everybody Armsmaster, even the diletants - even at base level, Armsmaster increases weapon speed. The best melee weapons in MM7 are spears (at Master level). The spear class contains 2 powerfull artifacts, not "balanced" by disadvantages. Armor: very often speed is more valuable than armor class, therefore, specialize your characters in those armor, where they can get rid of penalty to speed in the end. Plate needs GM level for it, so that only warriors should specialize in it.

    My favorite party is Cleric + 3 Archers on the Path of Light. The Cleric specialize in Body, Spirit, Mind and Light magic and also in Repair Item - M10 is enough for repairing everything in the game. The archers distribute among themselves Fire, Water, Air and Earth Magic one of them is GM in Perception. They use Bows on GM level (they can get down even a dragon) amd Spears at Master level.
