Is your game the v1.1 or the v1.0?

    There's another possibility - the "buttons" on the final 3 pillars don't line up well with the keyholes. It's safer to move in front of them so that you can see the keyholes, and then press the spacebar. Make sure the highlighted character is the one with the keys in his backpack
