my system is a dual core P4 running at 2.5Ghz/4GB RAM with an NVidia FX 8400 GS 512MB Graphics Card. Monitor is 24" flat screen AOC. OS is WinXP SP3. I do not plan on "upgrading" to Windows 7 or any other Microsoft junk that appears on the market. (If, however, someone could find a way to make Linux compatible with the game programs I play, I would switch to that OS in a heartbeat).I am having no problems running any of the MM or Wizardry games and most of the pre 1995 DOS games I play under DOSBox run just fine. Even Kane's Wrath (which is a prequel for C&C IV) runs without problems.
I checked the trailers on the upcoming Diablo III and Starcraft 2 games and they appear to run OK also. I do not like MMOLRPG's so I can't comment on those except to say my stepson does like them and also has no problems with some of the newer ones that are being circulated today.
I do not plan ever to "upgrade" to a quad core processor nor will I ever own a dedicated console machine (like Xbox, 360, Wii, etc) as my current system works just fine and considering my lousy physical condition and age will be all I need for the forseeable future.
