Elfs want you to get Fort Riverstride plans and deliver the fake spy to Queen Catherine.
Humans want you to rescue Loren Steel, the spy and deliver fake Fort plans to the King of Elves.
These quests are given after you talk to Ambassadors in your Harmondale castle and visit respective Human and Elf rulers afterwards. If you do not speek to the Ambassadors, no Judge will be killed and you will not be able to choose Light or Dark paths.
If you speak to the Ambassadors, but do not speek to sovereigns, or speek to sovereigns and do not fulfill their quests, or fail to do them in time, the Judge will be killed all the same and you will have to choose Light or Dark paths.
The War Adventure is to raid (or sneak into) Fort Riverstride and Tularean Caves and get quest items.
You may do your raiding or sneaking now (No quest items, though). Anyhow, it is not difficult now. The pleasure is to visit THE places at the very start when you are Level 1.
By the way, there are some prermanent stat-raising barrels in Fort Riverstride. And a Telekinesis-crate in Tularean Caves with a passage to the King's palace.
