First of all, try re-reading my post. I did not say that "3D0's bankrupcy was because of piracy". What I said was "...the revenue lost ... because of game piracy was undoubtedly one of the factors that forced it into bankruptcy." That statement is correct. I did not say that game piracy was the only factor, or even the main factor, because it was neither. And I almost certainly know a lot more about 3DO's demise than you do.Things have improved a lot in Russia since the late 1990's, but in those days, Russia was one of the worst "one-copy countries" in the world. See for example:
http://taylorandfrancis.metapress.com/(trngng45l5s3vw45nusp5mul)/app/home/contribution.asp?referrer=parent&backto=issue,2,10;journal,24,28;linkingpublicationresults,1:100647,1
which says among other comments: "Argentina, China, Russia account for more than $1 billion in piracy-related trade losses."
or http://www.efc.ca/pages/media/toronto-sun.03jan98.html, which says in part:
"A large portion [of the losses] are due to illegal copying in the Asian and Russian markets. China and Russia are notoriously known as "One copy countries" because the entire nation can be supplied with mass software recopied from a single legal copy."
Check for yourself. Just type "one-copy countries" (including the quotation marks) into Google, and see what comes up.
And lastly, I did not know where you lived, or what you earned, and I am very sorry that you are so badly off. But that does not alter the accuracy of what I said.
