It still has arcomage, which you can play right away (apparently card decks aren't rare in Jadame). And you can get Fly without too much trouble if you know what you're doing - in fact, I don't have the necromancers learn it at all because the dragons take care of it, and they don't need to be promoted to get it (just need Master skill). There's only one promotion, too.Of course, the same problems exist for using TP/LB - Grandmaster is necessary for that to escape enemies. But it can be a much easier game if you want it to be. Some people have even claimed it is too easy because of the dragons (but then no one twisted their arms and forced them to use a dragon, either). It's my favorite game of the series, simply because of what you've described as rooms and rooms full of monsters that are very tedious to get through in 6-7.
