Of course you better not kill any of the peaceful townsfolk while doing that. And you know what?! Walking through those narrow passageways in Stone City is MUCH easier after that. Those obnoxious pinkish dwarven Commanders that love to stand in your way and ignore your 'Y'ells are gone. I for one value that more than the treasure.
