With the exception of few locations I couldn't get a decent shot at, I've actually cleared out "Titan Towers" with a level 11 party. The little band where you can see them and they can't see you really is that good. I know it sound stupid that a party that weak can take out dragons, but it can be done. One other thought - it might be an interaction between the game and the computer. These do occur. My game plays differently on my present desktop computer from the way it played on the previous one, and from the way it plays on my laptop. Two of the differences I've spotted in MM6 are that (i) some of the NPCs walking around the towns don't have names and trades, whereas previously they all did, and (ii) the spell book and the staff in the chapels of the Silver Helms' establishments don't show up on my present desktop.
