Something not right wioth your hardware mode....

    Yeah, software mode does that to everyone. Hardware mode works correctly on most systems, so there's something odd with your setup. You might need to update your video drivers, but it's also possible that you might need to revert to an earlier set. You should be using the latest release of whichever DirectX version you're using -- ie, 8.1 or 9.0c.

    Also, are you sure that your graphics card meets the minimum specs? You should have at least 8 megs of VRAM.
