Blasters are extremely fast. Moreover, they (and only they) can be used underwater in Shoals. But this is all.Any well developed fighter equipped with efficient weapons is *much* more effective than anyone with blasters. For example, an archer with Mighty Halberd of the Dragon in one hand and Exquisite Long Dagger of the Dragon in the other can cause far more than 100 HP damage with every blow. This cannot be compared with blasters, no matter how good you are with them and no matter which kind of blasters you are using.
Therefore, forget blasters 
There are much better weapons in the game. You can run through Shoals. Once you enter Lincoln, reequip immediately - there exist several simple methods how to reequip enough fast before being killed or seriously harmed by the droids:
- If you have a mage in your party then set Lloyd's Beacon in Lincoln immediately after entering it and teleport away. Reequip, teleport back.
- If you do not have a mage then run like hell to the unlocked door in the entrance hall. Behind the door is a small passage free of droids, where the droids will not follow you. You can reequip there.
