Heroic Adventure in Avlee

My level 1 party with no elemental magic(KPTC)visited Avlee to collect the horseshoes, shop, play Arcomage, and visit the Faerie King. Having done that, we walked north along the seashore just to see the sights. Two Ancient Wyverns flew over the little cliff to say hello. We skilfully ran away, firing bows (except for the cleric, who won't use one--he prefers to cast his little Harm spell), and eventually wound up back at the edge of Spaward, where the brave elven warriors (you know, the half-naked guys armed with sticks)intervened. Thanks to their selfless devotion (and two or three deaths), my party finished off the purple monsters (from a distance).

Then, thinking the coast might be clear, we returned to the little cliff to see if we could pick up a reagent or two. Imagine our reaction when THREE MORE Ancient Wyverns flew over to greet us. (I have never seen so many A.W.s together). This time we ran away even faster, back to the village, where the elven soldiers again heroically started a doomed battle. My party bravely assisted, again from far away--I mean, those A.W.s can kill at a touch--until we were backed up to the coach house, with only a couple of elven heroes, about to die, standing between us and almost certain death.

It is at times like this that military genius reveals itself. My party, thinking like lightning, put away their weapons, took out their purses, and bought tickets to the Tularean Forest on a coach that, as it happens, was leaving immediately. We waved gratefully at the few remaining elves as we sped away....

"Discretion is the better part of valor." We'll stick to dragonflies for a while longer.
