My about five-generations removed ancestors were offered free passage to the great colony of Nawth Ca'lina (North Carolina to you Yankees) courtesy of the British Crown. From what I've gathered, our 1776 uprising put "paid" to the custom. Searching for a solution, the Crown decided that sheep farmers were in short supply down under, so that's how Australia was settled, to a fairly large extent.Ultima 3 was the first CRPG I ever completed, back in the old CRG days. (Have I got the initials right? IIRC, the chronological sequence was CRG, VRG, then SPVG. But then when you're as old as I, you need a lot of memory chips to hold all the useless information you've accumulated over the years.)
I hope to see your wonderful continent someday. Papa Elf says maybe next year. We've only seen 3 of the 7 continents, and don't really plan to travel to Antarctica! My Dad's brother was working in the oilfields somewhere around Perth about 50 years ago, and told us a lot of tales, probably some even true. He did tell us a lot about the borrowed Cockney rhyming slang. (Loaf of bread = head, brothers and sisters = whiskers, etc.)
