but then i had it all set up in the compat administrator, right, and the first dialog asks you to check a compat mode. i just said win2000 and clicked test run, expecting ' no cd' message like if you normally did it (by right clicking on the exe in normal windows, and checking win2k compat mode). however, mm7 started running, and that was really cool.now there are audio problems, but there are plenty more threads on that, and audio is easier to tweak, so yeah.
