For those having probs with MM7 and 8 with XP 08/28/2004, 17:49:43
the original post was by BTaxis, please give him the credit not me, but if for some reason the link becomes dead, heres the original post: I posted this to ntcompatible.com, but I'm not sure if it's ever going to show up, so I'm posting it here too, just in case somebody cares. Got M&M7 to work in Windows XP Pro, with all the bells and whistles enabled. --- Getting the 3D graphics accelleration to work ---
The following steps aren't really neccesary (probably), but if you follow them you will be able to launch the game from your favourite shell instead of from the compatibility toolkit. 8) Save your new database. You'll need to put it somewhere on-disk.
And that's it. This method I was told about by a friend of mine. It works on at least two different computers. It's not a freak accident. --- Getting the sound accelleration to work --- Now, this bit I only tried for myself. My friend doesn't have an EAX capable sound card, so he couldn't test it. 1) Delete or rename MSSA3D.M3D. That's it. The only option M&M7 has now is to use MSSEAX.M3D. I have an EAX capable sound card, and the game runs with the EAX option enabled in the configuration program. I have noticed some reverb effects in caves.
