I put off posting as long as I could, but just couldn't stand it any longer. I recently acquired a new PC - 3ghz XP-Home version and gave my grown daughter my old Win 98 PIII 500 which ran all of the MM games great (except MM IX which ran too slow) so I no longer have access to it. I first installed MM IX on the XP and it ran great! I even enjoyed playing it this time! ;=) I then tried to load MM VII and could not get it to run. I have tried everything in the XP trouble shooting guide, but it still refuses to run. I then loaded MM VI to see if I could get it to run, and with a little tweaking (decompress MSS32, add new BINKW32.DLL and SMACKW32.DLL, and run in WIN 95 compatability) it is running just great and I am trying to save Enroth once more.I am running out of options for 7 & 8. I searched the tavern and did everything I could find to tweak. Could one of you with a similar PC copy, on a post, your registry edits for MM VII & MM VIII? I feel that one or more is not set right. I have reinstalled each game several times. The Configuration exe does not allow me to change the audio acceleration (it does not allow me to click the box as the whole section thare is "greyed out"), only the video hardware and software can be changed. This may be my problem.
I am a computer programmer (maybe thats my problem! ;=)) so I do understand some of the internal workings (just wish I could get my hands on the Code!). I even had an old post showing where to add the "2dacceloff" to the reg edit. This did not work either. Thanks for all of the help in advance.
