Featherball writes: First there are the free SearX (or is it SearXNG now?) instances, which might be mildly confusing and do not work that great sometimes. Then there is also Kagi which I have seen much praise for but it is not free. I use duckduckgo as a compromise which still throws slop at me from time to time but it is mostly manageable. Once that goes I think I will stop using what is left of search engines unless there is absolutely no other way. There are still two libraries less than 5 minutes of walking away from me, thankfully.
