The Elf writes: I suspected it might be, because when we were in Oslo, I could make out a word or two that were sort of like German, but Finnish had me baffled. (I've read that it and Basque are two languages that have no counterparts.) Also I noticed that Norwegian has a lot of O's with umlauts, while the former "mystery" language only seemed to have them on A's and not O's.
